Dry Creek Vineyard Home
Healdsburg, CA

My clients for this project relocated to the Dry Creek Valley of Healdsburg from the State of Louisiana to follow their passion for wine making. On 22 acres of vineyard, we were able to locate this 4,000 sq. ft. custom home in between their vineyards and the scenic Dry Creek. In order to make them feel at home, I designed this residence as a Southern farmhouse. It is composed of 2 structures. The first is a single-story great room that features high ceilings and a traditional wrap around porch with 8’ tall double hung windows, shutters and gas-burning lanterns. In the great room is the dining area and country kitchen with wood-fired pizza oven and dining area. There is also a separate, large play room for the children. The other half of the house is the two-story bedroom wing. The two elements of the home are gracefully connected by a narrow space that includes the pantry and homework area for the children. I called this space the “bridge” room since it served as the bridge connecting the private and public areas of the home. While this residence is traditional in character, it clearly has been custom designed for its occupants.
